Upload and download images from...

The Help Link from Photoshop.com takes me to TechNote http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408502.html#ionComHeading, which explaines how to upload and download images from Photoshop.com with the Adobe Air Uploader. It tells you to download Air Uploader by:

  1. Log in to Photoshop.com.
  2. On the Home screen, under New Stuff, click the Right Arrow to get to the screen that says Uploading Made Easy.
  3. Click on the Air Uploader link to download the app.
  4. Install the Air Uploader.

In addition to being able to use Air Uploader to upload my pictures, it tells me I can use it to download an Album to my computer. It even tells me where the Album will be placed on my computer:

  1. Select an Album to download.
  2. Click Sync Album.

The images will download to:

  • Mac OS: Users/[user_name]/Pictures/Photoshop.com Sync/[login_name]/[album_name]
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\My Documents\My Pictures\Photoshop.com Sync\[login_name]\[album_name]
  • Windows Vista: C:\Users\[user_name]\Pictures\Photoshop.com Sync\[login_name]\[album_name]

The problem I'm having is that I can't find New Stuff on the Home Screen, so I can't even get started doing this. Although I'm able to upload my pictues just fine after installing Photoshop.com. I find that there is no practical way to copy the edited images back to my PC. It seems that you have provided Air Uploader to accomplish this, but where is it? How do I get it installed on my PC?

Is there another, more straight forward, way to download groups of pictures from Photoshop.com to my PC? If ot, this product will not be practical for me to use.

The air uploader is what you need, try this:

1. login to your account

2. Make sure you are on the Home Page (click the Home icon on top)

3. On the left side, look for News

4. This is the step you might be missing, scroll down the News section until you see more items. The Uploader link is the last one

Thanks for giving it a try. I certainly appreciate your assistance. Unfortunately, Adobe Photoshop.com Uploader, which is what is listed at the bottom of the News items, is not what I was looking for. The tech support link mentions a different product called Adobe Air Uploader.

The Photoshop Uploader works great for up loading my images all at once, but only lets me download the edited versions one at a time (who thought this was an acceptable feature ???). The Air Uploader, according to its description, allows you to download an entire Album at one time so you can sync your Photoshop.com version of the pictures in that Album with the pictures on your computer. This downloaded copy can then serve as a backup copy of the pictures in their newly edited and enhanced state.

So, where is this link to Adobe Air Uploader? Anyone?

Additionally, with only 2G of space in the free version of Photoshop.com, at some point (soon) you will run out of space and need to move some of your published pictures off the site to make room for new ones. Even if you buy the upgrade to get larger storage space, you still need to be able to be able to make backups of the pictures you've edited. One-at-a-time backups are just not practical, especially once you get 100s of pictures on the site.

I will continue to explore Photoshop.com, but until there is a practical way to download large numbers of pictures, I won't be paying for it. If I discover a solution to this problem I will post it here, but from reading other posts on the subject of downloading, I'm guessing Air Uploader may no longer be available, and nothing has been put in to replace it.

All comments and suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

I am sorry, I meant get the Adobe Photoshop Uploader which is an Adobe Air type of application.

Adobe Air is required to install the Photoshop Uploader. If you do not have it installed, the Photoshop Uploader Intaller will guide you to get Adoe Air installed first.

With the Photoshop Uploader, you can download multiple photos using the ''sync'' feature as described on your previous post.

There is a terminology consistency issue; the Adobe Photoshop.com uploader is an AIR tool, and it will allow you to sync the files between your desktop, and Photoshop.com account, an entire album at at time.
