I've installed and formatted a second (larger) int. hard drive to use for my images.
In Vista they currently reside in: C:\Users\Charles\Pictures\XXXXFolders
I'm thinking that I can just create a new folder on the new drive (My Pictures ala XP or something similar) and then use the Catalog Manager to select the catalog and move it to the new location. I just want to be sure that that will move the catalog and the photos, preserving the Windows folder structure.?Any if not, any thoughts on what steps I should take would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Charles
Moving Photos in windows folder...Adobe uses the term ''catalog'' ambiguously -- sometimes it means just the database containing links to your photos and their metadata, and sometimes it means that database plus all your photos.
The File %26gt; Catalog %26gt; Move command moves just the database, not your photos (unless your photos happen to be stored in the catalog folder).?To move your photos to the new drive, see this FAQ:

Moving Photos in windows folder...Thanks, John. That's great info about dragging and dropping from ''Folder View'' mode. That's the route I'll take. I'll report back when I've got it done.
And what a wonderful resource you've put together.
Cheers,
Charles
I tried to drag some folders from the organizer folder view to the new windows drive and got this message:
''Could not find this item''
''This is no longer located in C:\Users\Charles\Pictures\XXXXfolder\. Verify the items location and try again''
I triple checked and the folders are in those locations. Any thoughts about what might be going on with Vista here?
TIA,
Charles
I was trying to drag the folder from Elements to a Windows Explorer window of the new drive. I just tried dragging some folders from Elements folder view to the new drive folder inside the Elements folder view and it worked fine...sub folders included. Now for an afternoon of draggin' and droppin' :-)
Cheers,
Charles
