Flex: Use of USB Camera

I am currently working on an Application, that uses a USB Connected Digital Camera.

Is it possible to access this camera and take pictures with it using Flex? I know a Webcam works, but not completely sure with Flex. How would I do such a thing with Flex.

It's Canon Rebel connected via usb to my Mac Pro.

Can Flex access this camera, if not, do you know any alternatives?
